My ancestors settled in America in the early 19th century, most likely coming from England. The first record we have is of my relative Jameson Moody, who fought in the war of 1812. His son, William L. Moody, moved from Virginia to Fairfield, served as a Confederate colonel in the Civil War and was a founder of the Texas Seventh Infantry. He attended law school at the University of Virginia and in 1852 settled in Galveston, Texas - where (most of) my family continues to live and work today.
