My parents were born in Europe, the children of successful businesspeople who were Jewish. When Hitler and the Nazis took over Germany and Austria, my grandparents struggled to escape with their young children. With a lot of difficulty and some incredible luck, they were able to eventually get to New York City and build a new life. Many of my relatives were not so lucky, and they perished in the Holocaust
