My great grandparents immigrated to the United States from Eastern Europe. At one point, my new husband wanted to explore family trees, and was disappointed that mine ended on all lines very quickly, without being able to do research in Europe. I wasn't disappointed. I was proud of my family and their courage to come here and start a new life and new chapter. With no connections they began fresh. I am so disappointed that now that can't happen. Why was it fine for my family to come, but not for other immigrants now. I am not that far removed.
