Mane's Story

I migrated with my parents when I was around a year old to Florida with a green card. Since I was young, I don’t remember much, but I always hear stories of the culture and people there. My parents told me a funny story once, about some of the young African American kids that they interacted with there. At the time, we were neighbors with multiple families with little children who would ride around on bikes on the street. Since my parents didn’t know what what’s what back then, they once bought a huge case of red vines (candy) that they didn’t really like. They decided to give some of these to the kids, and from then on those little ones would visit our home for candy, and ask to play with me while I was just a baby. Though I don’t remember it, I still fell nostalgic when I hear these stories. I’m happy to be here!
